Lucas Console-Verma

Lucas is a painter who is interested in appropriation and artificial intelligence (AI) technology. His process involves selecting old masters’ paintings and transforming them using online generative AI systems, distorting the original image as a way of studying composition, colours and subjects. He then uses these images to create paintings that open up a dialogue between the traditional and the contemporary. 

“By manipulating old master paintings through the use of technology, I’m able to create new meanings and interpretations that go beyond the original context of the artwork….Overall, my goal as an artist is to create work that contributes to a broader cultural conversation and that expands the boundaries of what is possible within the world of contemporary art.”

Lucas’ new solo exhibition will be on display in the windows of the Hidden Wardrobe from Friday 27th June until Sunday 27th July and will be free to visit.
