Abi Hart
The Pears
Associate artist
Abi’s practice is an exploration of British working class identity. Her work is informed by her own upbringing and lived experience, but also draws on broader narratives about class and patriotism. Abi uses found materials and objects, such as family photographs and memorabilia, alongside original drawings and paintings to create multi-layered installations.
“My work has led to consider what belonging can mean, the prevalence of childhood and adolescence, and how identities are expressed creatively. I’m heavily inspired by modern British folk and pop art, as well as British film, music and literature, resulting in unsophisticated, often maximalist pieces of work with strong political undertones.”
