The Bananas were the first cohort of graduate artists selected for the RIPE programme in 2018.

They assisted in renovating the spaces on Old Northam Road and helped shape the RIPE programme. Twelve artists exhibited in Ripe Bananas #01 and Ripe Bananas #02 that summer and six took part in a mini-residency programme, Banana Bread in October 2018.

Over the Winter, a number of the artists continued to use the Alfred Arcade as studio space and exhibited in Banana Split in May 2019, before moving to the Hidden Wardrobe.
